Shanghai, China, Nov 1, 2018 Experian, the world’s leading global information services company, recently announced its exclusive sponsorship of the City Club for the calendar year 2018-19. The sponsorship positions Experian for strategic participation in a number of events such as the China International Import Expo (CIIE), making a valuable contribution to the expansion of China-UK financial, economic and trade cooperation.

The City Club was officially established in February 2017 and is a joint initiative by the City of London and the British Consulate-General in Shanghai. The City Club organizes bespoke events and roundtables for professionals who are working in the financial and professional services sectors that have strong ties to the UK. It also provides exclusive events for face-to-face meetings between political and financial leaders from both countries.

To date, the City Club has organized a number of different events in Shanghai, including dinners with senior leaders of Britain’s financial services industry. In May this year, together with CEIBS, the China Financial Information Center and the Pudong Financial Services Office, the City Club held the Lujiazui Financial Services Evening Seminar, bringing together over 500 industry professionals to share and discuss innovative ideas.

With the assistance of Experian’s exclusive sponsorship, the City Club has already begun planning a series of events including talks and seminars organized around the upcoming CIIE. Experian looks forward to participating in these events and will play its part as a bridge facilitating a deeper understanding of Chinese and British financial markets. Experian wishes to actively strengthen business interactions between both nations’ financial industries and help promote diversified investments.

Ever since entering the Chinese market in 2005, wholly British-owned Experian has focused on introducing industry trends into the Chinese market and helping customers make better decisions. At the same time, the company also pays close attention to Chinese enterprises’ overseas developments, leveraging its global resources to help Chinese enterprises successfully seize opportunities for international expansion.

“Our sponsorship of the City Club aims to combine both sides’ strengths and create an industry platform for the fruitful exchange of ideas,” said Huang Jian, Managing Director of Greater China for Experian. “London is one of the most important international financial hubs, and the Chinese government is increasingly opening up China’s financial industry to foreign investors. We look forward to creating meaningful opportunities for exchange and interaction. Our overall goal is to create opportunities for both China and Britain, not only with respect to the financial industry but also in a wider sense.”

Experian’s year-long sponsorship will not only ensure that the City Club’s projects are duly carried out, but it will also allow both sides to set long-term goals and achieve synergies. As the City Club’s exclusive sponsor for the financial year 2018-19, Experian will be invited as a key partner to the City Club’s various events, giving the company an opportunity to share its innovative thinking on big data applications and financial technologies as well as its expertise in credit rating and data analytics with enterprises and professionals. Ultimately, Experian’s sponsorship of the City Club will help the company provide even better and more targeted products and services.
